When the animation of LADY OSCAR has been transmitted in France, the original japanese opening has been replaced with a new French song. The new song was by Marie Douphin and it was a little march, also including a short piece from "La Marseillaise".
After, during '90s, the first French song has been replaced with a newer song, composed in Italy: it was exported by Mediaset and reviewed with French text. The new song met the taste of younger fans (those who hadn't ever heard anything else!) but it never conquered the first admirers of the series: same thing as in Italy, where we never stand Mediaset when introducing it in 1993, since it stole the place to the historical LADY OSCAR ballad, by I CAVALIERI DEL RE (most of all because it had been replaced for commercial reasons only). We can't tell Marie Dauphin's song to be wonderful... but it had to sound very "falk" to the French public who loved it. Also the video-clip was funny: Marie was singing the song among a group of boys and girls in the role of Revolution's folks, marching here and there...; while some clips of the series were running into the scene, also some other boys where "dancing", acting like soldiers and dressing up the uniforms of the National French Guard in 1700 (uniforms in the video-clips are similar to the originals while it's not a secret that the uniforms into the animated series were not historically correct - of course we can figure out French people to know such uniforms! lol).
Finally, if not minding to commercial purposes, the LADY OSCAR song by Marie Dauphin would had never been replaced.
